Galileo satellite launch today

Two more navigation satellites for the Galileo navigation system are due to be sent into orbit on 27 March at 22:46 CET.

The seventh and eighth Galileo satellites will be launched into space aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from Europe’s spaceport in Kourou in French Guyana. The event is being streamed live online.

The Galileo navigation system is designed as a European alternative to the US-run Global Positioning System (GPS) and will eventually consist of 30 satellites.
