Switzerland may change official application language

The Swiss National Science Foundation is to decide whether to make English the official language of political sciences applications, after a survey expressed strong support for the change.

A majority of members of the Swiss Political Science Association said in a survey that they would like English to be the official language of applications submitted to the SNSF in the field of political sciences.

In a statement issued on 2 March, the SNSF announced that it would discuss the results of the consultation with the aim of taking a decision in May. If the changeover goes ahead, it will come into force from 1 October.
