The European Institute of Innovation and Technology will change its selection process for the next two Knowledge and Innovation Communities, covering food and advanced manufacturing.
According to a presentation given on 23 March by Martin Kern, the EIT’s director, the evaluation of applications to host the KICs will remove the final step, under which the proposals are considered by a final recommendation panel. Whilst selection will be based on the same three criteria as that used in previous calls—covering strategy, operations and impact—the subcriteria will be made simpler, said Kern, to align better with Horizon 2020 objectives.
The size of KIC bids will also be reduced, with teams limited to a maximum of 50 partners and five co-location centres, Kern announced.
