EU bank backs Turkish council

Turkey is to receive a €320-million loan to promote R&D and climate activities, the European Investment Bank has said.

The loan includes €200m to help Turkey’s Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBITAK) run it’s two largest national R&D support programs, the EIB said a press release on 18 January.

This will support the Academic Research Funding Programme, which gives project-based grants to universities and research institutes. The funding will also cover TÜBITAK’s Industrial R&D and Innovation Programme, which helps collaboration between industry and universities to improve the competitiveness and entrepreneurship of Turkish companies.
