The EU research commissioner Carlos Moedas has restated his commitment to open innovation, which he says will help reduce inequality in research output between industries and regions.
At the Austrian Open Innovation Strategy Event on Thursday, Moedas said that a more open form of innovation is needed to increase productivity across all industries.
Moedas highlighted the widening gap between companies he described as ‘productivity leaders’ in the ICT and digital fields and the rest of the private sector.
