The European Institute of Innovation and Technology has allocated €400 million to its six Knowledge and Innovation Communities for 2018.
The KICs, which cover energy, food, climate, digital, raw materials and health, will be able to use the €400m for issuing grants to their participant organisations. The equivalent figure for 2017 was about €320m.
Martin Kern, the institute’s interim director, said that investing in the KICs, which bring together universities, businesses and research centres for knowledge exchange, “is one key aspect of providing tailor made support to European innovators”.
