Four European supercomputing centres are gearing up to buy one high-performance computer each.
The supercomputing centres in France, Germany, Italy and Spain have invited suppliers to take part in an open market consultation on 6 September. After the consultation, each centre plans to buy a supercomputer or a high-performance storage system. Their total budget is €73 million.
Nine EU countries—including France, Germany, Italy and Spain—agreed earlier this year to begin procurement on at least two supercomputers by 2019–20. The plan is part of a major EU push to build the next generation of high-performance computing and data infrastructure.
