Move for Jyrki Katainen approved with conditions against lobbying and use of insider information
Jyrki Katainen, the European Commission vice-president for jobs, growth, investment and competitiveness and former prime minister of Finland, is to become president of the Finnish innovation fund Sitra in January 2020.
Authorisation from his current employer came on 30 October, following an independent ethical review. It is conditional on Katainen not lobbying the Commission or EU banks and investment funds for at least two years, and not using information or insights gleaned from his five years as Commission vice-president to make investment decisions in his new role.
