EIT plan for outreach office in Beijing hailed as ‘well-timed’ by academics

European Institute of Innovation and Technology looking to benefit from Chinese connections

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s plan to drive European influence in China with an office in Beijing is well-timed, say academics with knowledge of the country.

“It seems to me as natural as to be in Silicon Valley,” said Marijk van der Wende, a higher education researcher at Utrecht University working on EU-China collaboration. She pointed to the size of China’s research and higher education systems as a good reason for opening a base there.
