EIT: Coming of age

The EU’s innovation networks are facing up to the end of their main source of funding

 Parents can only support their children for so long, and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology can only do so much as its offspring come of age and decide what they want to be.

The EIT is tasked with nurturing economic growth in the EU and addressing societal problems by educating entrepreneurs and funding their ideas. To carry this out, it has given birth to eight thematic networks, known as Knowledge and Innovation Communities, or KICs.
