EU mulling support for strategic industry areas

Pooled funding and extra monitoring among recommendations from industry and member state representatives

The EU should consider a plethora of actions to better support six important areas of industry, a strategy-focused group of representatives from businesses and public authorities has recommended.

Less-polluting and more automated vehicles, hydrogen fuel technologies, digitised healthcare, internet-enabled devices, low-carbon industry and cybersecurity all need more support to help the EU grow its economy, combat climate change and fend off global competitors, the group said in a report published on 5 November.
