As Research Europe went to press, ministers were expected to agree on a strategy that could shape EU industrial policy for the next decade.
Draft conclusions of a meeting of member state ministers to be held on 27 May called for the European Commission to work on a “comprehensive” EU industrial policy strategy for 2030. The Commission will also be urged to complement this with actions to drive developments in specific technologies.
Unless major changes occur at the meeting, ministers will flag six “key strategic value chains for joint and coordinated investments and actions”: connected, automated and electric vehicles; smart health; low-carbon industries; hydrogen technologies and systems; industrial internet of things; and cybersecurity.
