Review finds European defence activities ‘characterised by fragmentation, incoherence’
The European Defence Agency has said ministries should allocate a greater share of their budgets to defence R&D, as part of its first-ever review of national military capabilities.
EU countries have been spending more on defence overall since 2015-16, but the amount they are channelling into defence R&D is still “insufficient”, the agency said in a report of the review it published on 20 November.
