Horizon Europe could help fund launcher R&D, Commission indicates

Politicians and officials have reiterated their support for the development of ‘next-generation’ European space launcher vehicles, amid growing interest in smaller launchers and the success of rivals at lofting European satellites.

Conclusions adopted by EU governments on 11 November ahead of two high-level meetings held on 20 November—one between EU ministers responsible for space and the other of the EU’s Space Council, which also includes the European Space Agency (Esa)—reiterated that Europe must “maintain a secure, autonomous, reliable, cost-effective and affordable access to space”.
