Ministers agree to work together on computer processors

EU countries will cooperate to advance shared goals in the R&D-heavy and politically sensitive industry

Ministers from 14 EU countries have signed a declaration to work together to “strengthen Europe’s capabilities to design and eventually fabricate” next-generation computer chips.

The pledges were made at a meeting of ministers responsible for telecommunications, held virtually on 7 December, with more countries expected to sign up over time.
