€160m on offer for defence industry R&D

Biowarfare countermeasures highlighted among call topics, amid Covid-19 pandemic

The European Commission has announced the last wave of defence R&D funding calls from the precursor programmes to the EU’s planned European Defence Fund, offering a total of €160 million for industrial projects.

The 2020 calls under the European Defence Industrial Development Programme, announced on 6 April and scheduled to open from 15 April until 1 December, cover areas such as air combat, ICT for defence, and protection against chemical, biological and radiological warfare.
