Business Europe says repurposing European Research Area would boost business involvement

The head of the industry lobby group Business Europe has told the European Commission that repurposing the European Research Area, a policy initiative to help knowledge and researchers flow freely in Europe, to make it the European Research and Innovation Area would boost companies’ participation.

“Until now, companies have not sufficiently connected to the ERA, simply because the ERA has a strong focus on academic research,” Business Europe head Markus Beyrer said in a letter addressed to research commissioner Mariya Gabriel and published on 18 May.
