Pandemic budget squeeze strengthens case for defence cooperation, new chief says

A former Czech defence minister, Jiří Šedivý, began a three-year term as head of the European Defence Agency on 4 May.

In a press release announcing his swearing-in, Šedivý (pictured left) said the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on economies and security “make EU defence cooperation even more indispensable”.
