Most member states have improved, but Germany, Romania and Slovenia are in decline
The European Commission’s annual scoreboard has found improvements in key metrics for innovation in most EU countries, but some nations are still lagging behind the pack.
Innovation performance in 2019 increased in 24 EU member states relative to 2012, according to the Commission report, which was written by Hugo Hollanders, a researcher at Maastricht University, with help from colleagues Nordine Es-Sadki, Iris Merkelbach and Aishe Khalilova.
