EU hydrogen strategy needs ‘continuous R&D’

Strategy intended to help make EU carbon neutral by 2050

The European Commission has unveiled its strategy for developing hydrogen energy technologies to help the bloc become carbon neutral and mitigate climate change, with research and innovation identified as “key drivers” of the plan.

“Continuous research and development is required to ensure that hydrogen technologies are technically improved, highly efficient, and as competitive as possible,” the Commission said when it announced the strategy on 8 July.
