‘More R&D capacity needed’ to boost European robotics

Universities and research institutions have key roles in robotics development, report says

To compete globally in robotics innovation, Europe needs country-specific policies for boosting its R&D capacities and must make good use of its academic institutions, according to a report by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre evidence service.

Some European countries lead in robotics manufacturing and deployment, but generally Europe lags in robotics development, JRC researchers Zoltán Cséfalvay and Petros Gkotsis said in a report published this week.
