Luxembourg creating centre for leadership in space resources

Tiny nation accelerates its pursuit of excellence in extraterrestrial resource exploitation

Luxembourg has moved to cement its position as a leader in, and a hub for, space resource exploitation, with the Luxembourg Space Agency and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology agreeing to set up a joint innovation centre to support R&D and other activities related to the nascent field.

The European Space Resources Innovation Centre, which will begin as a department within the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, will host research infrastructures and an incubator to support small businesses working in the area. It will also seek to develop legal expertise around off-planet mining.
