EU seeks to help small companies protect IP with €47m fund

Bloc will partially reimburse fees for patents on intellectual property to boost innovation in SMEs

The EU is attempting to help small and medium-sized companies protect their intellectual property, with a €47 million fund to assist them with services such as patents.

Officials in the bloc said it is vital that SMEs—which sometimes struggle with patents and protecting the knowledge and products they create—behave more like big firms with regards IP, if they are to grow.
