Controversial plan sought to hold back part of European Innovation Council budget

The European Parliament has scrapped a planned vote on whether to hold back part of the budget of the EU’s innovation fund for startups, Research Professional News understands.

Some MEPs wanted to freeze part of the budget of the European Innovation Council due to concerns over how it is being managed: the European Commission wants to shift control of its equity-based investments to an external fund manager, which the MEPs think will hamper its functioning.
