EU acts to strengthen health research and disease responses

Member states back plans to increase responsibilities of EU health agencies

The EU has taken steps to strengthen its capacities to respond to health crises, including through research.

On 24 October, EU member state governments signed off on laws setting out increased responsibilities and powers for the bloc’s health agencies, as one of those agencies agreed an enhanced cooperation on vaccine R&D.
