EU set to push for system of research ‘valorisation’ incentives

  

Universities and research organisations also set to be encouraged to pool resources for sharing knowledge

The EU is set to ask the R&D sector to develop a system that incentivises the use of research results in business and society, through so-called ‘knowledge valorisation’.

Draft recommendations from the Council of the EU, which represents the 27 member state governments, call for a “fair system” to encourage researchers, innovators, students and other staff members at universities and research organisations to use their research results for socioeconomic purposes.
