European Parliament backs actions to boost cancer research

More funding, cross-border cooperation and paediatric infrastructure gain MEPs’ support

The European Parliament has adopted recommendations for strengthening Europe’s “fight” against cancer, including a long and broad list of actions to support research and gain more from it.

The recommendations came in the final report of a Parliament Special Committee on Beating Cancer, which was adopted by 652 votes to 15 on 16 February. They are intended to feed into a “comprehensive and coordinated EU strategy” on cancer.
