Parliament backs push for €13bn EU technologies fund

MEPs support not taking money from EU’s research and innovation programme for new fund

The European Parliament has backed a push to allocate €13 billion in new money to an EU fund for supporting strategic technologies.

In June, the European Commission proposed creating a Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform to use existing funding schemes to funnel EU money to technologies seen as key to the bloc’s digital, environmental and socioeconomic ambitions.
