Commission says Michiel Scheffer will bring “remarkable professional experience” to troubled European Innovation Council

A leader has been appointed at the EU’s troubled European Innovation Council after more than two years in which the funder has struggled to deliver investments—but his start date has still not been confirmed.

The European Commission announced on 29 March that it had appointed Michiel Scheffer as president of the board of the EIC, which was formed under the EU’s 2021-27 research and innovation programme Horizon Europe to support the development of cutting-edge technologies and the growth of companies based on them.
