First EU-India trade meeting backs joint work on research

EU-India Trade and Technology Council supports R&D ties on computing and clean technologies

Representatives of the EU and the Indian government working to build cooperation on topics of joint interest have backed shared action on research in a first meeting, according to the European Commission.

The EU-India Trade and Technology Council, announced in February, met in Brussels on 16 May. Representatives included Commission executive vice-president Margrethe Vestager (pictured centre) and, for India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, minister of external affairs (second left), Piyush Goyal, minister of commerce and industry (left), and Rajeev Chandrasekhar, minister of state for skill development, entrepreneurship and IT (right).
