Merger ‘should increase the number of grants’

The government has decided to merge the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology and the Irish Research Council Humanities and Social Sciences. Both operate under the aegis of the Higher Education Authority.

In a 17 November announcement, the authority said the merger represented a demonstration of the government’s continued commitment to support programmes designed to help early-stage researchers across all disciplines.
