Call for industry action in STEM ‘crisis’

Industry could play a major role in tackling the crisis in maths and science, Brian MacCraith, president of Dublin City University, said after the release of the Leaving Cert results on 17 August.

The figures showed a one-in-ten failure rate in general mathematics courses, while secondary level science courses saw failure rates of seven to nine per cent.
