Irish success in winning funding from the European Research Council points to the general improvement in Ireland’s capacity to deliver high quality research and shows the quality of the individual researchers who win council support only through merit and the excellence of their work, said the European commissioner for research, Maire Geoghegan-Quinn.
She was speaking on 22 September during a visit to the Science Gallery in Dublin where she met recipients of “Starting Grant” awards from the Council.
