Composites centre at Limerick wins €1m for research

Composite materials researchers at the University of Limerick have won funding for three projects with a combined value of €1 million. All three are based at UL’s Irish Centre for Composites Research.

Announced on 13 December, the support comes from Enterprise Ireland’s Commercialisation Fund for 3rd Level Researchers, a programme designed to encourage researchers to bring their discoveries to market. The investment was an indication of Limerick’s standing in composites research, said Mary Shire, UL’s VP for research.
