Horizon 2020 launch sets Ireland’s ambitious research targets

Research Commissioner Máire Geoghegan-Quinn attended the official launch programme to encourage Irish researchers to take an active part in the next EU research programme Horizon 2020.

The government, Enterprise Ireland and the European Commission’s office in Dublin organised a number of events on 10 and 11 December to tie in the first calls for projects under Horizon 2020.

The government has set €1.25 billion as its drawdown target from the €79bn budget programme. Commissioner Quinn called on academic and industry researchers to “sign up” and take part.
