The prospects of reaching agreement on the Horizon 2020 research budget remain good according to the minister of state for research and innovation, Sean Sherlock.
He was speaking on 30 May after European Union members’ research ministers met at the second last competitiveness council of Ireland’s EU presidency. Research commissioner Márie Geoghegan-Quinn also attended the council meeting.
The Irish presidency remains committed to reaching agreement on the research budget before the end of June, Sherlock said. The council also discussed the European Research Area, alignment of research funding across member states and the EU’s space industry policy.
