Research council supports graduate students in firms

The Irish Research Council has awarded €4.5 million to support masters and PhD students who will spend most of their research time based in companies.

The council’s latest investment in its Employment-based Postgraduate scheme will support 48 researchers working with their host companies over the next 1 to 3 years, it announced at a press event on 2 December.

The awards were made across all academic disciplines with the students taking up posts in 45 businesses, not-for-profit companies, non-governmental organisations and the public sector. They will spend about 70 per cent of their time working with their sponsor organisation.
