University College Dublin’s Michael Smurfit graduate business school is offering a MSc in food business strategy, a joint initiative involving the business school along with the university’s school of agriculture and food science.
Simon Coveney, the minister for agriculture, said at the launch on 5 March that the programme was a reflection of the importance of the food industry in Ireland as a major driver of economic growth.
The indigenous industry that employs 50,000 people and produces exports worth €10 billion, he said. The course will prepare the next generation of employees to develop the industry further, he said. The course will start in the 2014-15 academic year.
