Queen’s appoints medical dean

A specialist in respiratory medicine and cystic fibrosis has taken over as Dean of the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen’s University Belfast.

Stuart Elborn, whose appointment was announced by the university on 18 March, trained in Belfast, Nottingham and Cardiff. He has helped advanced the treatment of cystic fibrosis and supported the preparation of international guidelines on best clinical practice for the condition. He received a CBE in 2013 for his services to medicine.

Elborn is “the right man, at the right time” to take over the post said Queen’s vice-chancellor Patrick Johnston.
