University College Cork has joined with financial-services firm State Street Corporation and Zhejiang University in China to form a research collaboration and open a technology centre on UCC’s campus.
Announced on 10 December, the collaboration will look at how emerging technologies affect the financial-services industry, the UCC said in a statement.
The State Street Corporation has already investmented in both universities. This centre will extend its academic-research activity. Areas to be studied include the effects on companies of the crypto-currency bitcoin.
