The German company Phenox has announced plans to open a manufacturing, research, sales and distribution facility in Galway in the Ballybrit Business Park and will create 65 jobs in the next five years.

The company manufactures medical devices for the treatment of aneurysms and stroke. It plans to open the centre in early 2016.

The Galway centre will be a major part of the company, which is based in Bochum, Germany where it employs about 130 people, said Hermann Monstadt, company founder and managing director.
