Power integration centre secures €11m investment

The Irish government and industrial partners have announced they will co-fund a research centre involved in the integration of energy sources, and the development of systems to support integration.

The Energy Systems Integration Partnership Programme, announced on 24 November, will be based at University College Dublin.

Half of the €11 million funding will come from Science Foundation Ireland and half from a group of five commercial partners and a philanthropist. Allied Irish Bank, national power grid operator EirGrid, national energy provider Ervia, Glen Dimplex, and the electricity board ESB are the industrial partners.
