Richard Bruton, the minister responsible for employment in Ireland, has predicted that at least 1,500 jobs will come over the next three years from 102 high-potential start-up companies working in advanced technology areas.
Bruton made the claim at an event in Dublin on 18 February held to announce that Enterprise Ireland would be supporting these fast-growing companies working in areas such as medical devices, software, cleantech, engineering and other research driven areas.
The department defines a high-potential company as one involved in technological innovation that is likely to grow quickly reaching sales of €1 million a year within three years and employ at least 10 people. They are also expected to be export oriented.
