Tyndall scientist wins prestigious India chair

Saibal Roy of the Tyndall National Institute has been awarded a prestigious visiting professorship in engineering by the Indian National Science Academy.

The award, announced on 9 April, recognises Roy’s 20-year research contribution in the areas of nanostructured materials and thin-film technologies.

Roy heads the institute’s micropower systems and nanomagnetics units. He was nominated by government scientific advisers in India and declared himself as being “truly honoured and humbled” by the distinction.
