Tyre recycling process wins EU support

A novel method to destroy used tyres using molten zinc in a pyrolysis process has attracted research support from the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme.

Composite Recycling Ltd was one of eight small companies to receive funding from the SME Instrument, the EU office announced on 23 April.

The  €50,000 award will support a pilot-plant study of the technique. The company believes it can be on the market with a commercial process by 2018.
