Government announces €22.5m for young researchers

Forty research projects have been awarded €22.3 million via two programmes specifically designed to cultivate the next academic generation of scientists.

Announced on 18 October, the funding comes from Science Foundation Ireland via its Starting Investigator Research Grant scheme and its Career Development Award programme.

The awards range from €450,000 up to €877,000. They will support the work of almost 100 young researchers, the foundation said.
