Amber, the materials research institute funded by Science Foundation Ireland, has agreed to a second four-year collaboration with Nokia Bell Labs valued at €2.3 million.
Announced on 18 October, the funding includes €1.1m from Nokia Bell Labs as cash and in-kind support and another €1.2m from the foundation. The project value includes a number of company researchers who are embedded in research groups within Amber.
The partners will continue to focus on advanced batteries based on the use of nanomaterials, temperature control technologies allowing electronic devices to run cooler, and energy efficient lasers for use in optoelectronics.
