Trinity scientist wins fifth ERC award

Valeria Nicolosi of Trinity College Dublin has become the first scientist based in Ireland to win five awards from the European Research Council.

Nicolosi’s fifth ERC award was announced on 27 July, a €150,000 Proof of Concept Grant to develop temperature control systems based on nanomaterials for the automotive industry. This will build on a €1.5-million Starting Grant won in 2011 for the development of energy storage devices.

Collectively, the five awards have brought her €12 million in research funding over the past five years.
