Nobel prize winner and Trinity College Dublin alumnus William Campbell was in Dublin to formally launch the university’s revised undergraduate science programme.
The science programme at Trinity now involves four “entry routes” into science via the physical, chemical, biological and geosciences, Trinity said in a launch statement issued on 29 November. After two years, students can specialise in one of the four subject areas.
Campbell became interested in parasitology at university, graduating from Trinity with a degree in zoology in 1952. His time at Trinity “changed my life” after working with parasitologist Desmond Smyth, he said.
