Dublin and Limerick win big in SFI innovation competition

Science Foundation Ireland has announced four more university-industry research centres to be based in higher-education institutions in Dublin and Limerick.

The foundation released the details of its contribution—worth €72 million—to the centres on 2 May. They will also be supported by 80 industrial partners who are chipping in a further €38m bringing the total investment in cash and kind to €110m, which will support the centres for five years.

The foundation already supports 12 similar major research centres where academics and industrial researchers work on research projects across the divide between basic and applied research.
